Doug and Kris Cameron of Hawk Ridge Art, www.hawkridgeart.com, announce the grand opening of the John L. Peyton store front website: “Paintings, Prints and Arts”. The website features over 700 original paintings and lithographic prints, including hundred of images never seen before. “We hope the new website makes John’s art conveniently available to anyone who views the site. We encourage people to call for a personal viewing of his collection at our home gallery in Duluth,” states Doug Cameron. John’s original paintings are for sale. Hawk Ridge Art will produce giclee prints of any original painting that they have in their collection. The giclee print gallery has over 125 prints which can be custom sized up to 24x30”.
John L. Peyton is remembered as a renowned regional artist. He painted the history of the Northland in the 20th century capturing the immigrants, the Ojibwe people, the fishermen, the loggers and the beauty of the woods and Lake Superior.
“A canoe is as well suited to watercolor as it is to hunting and fishing. I lay my paddle across the gunwales for a drawing board and have the whole lake to dip my brushes in,” Peyton wrote in his autobiography, Bright Beat the Water. He worked in oils, collage, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, charcoal and mixed media. He produced paintings, original lithographic prints, computer prints and now his art is being reproduced in giclee prints.
Hawk Ridge Art has recently released gift cards which are available individually or in a boxed set of 8 images. Cards can be created from any of their giclee prints to meet a customer’s needs. Individualized messages can be included on the inside. Mr. Peyton’s five books: The Stone Canoe, Bright Beat the Water, Faces in the Firelight, Voices from the Ice and The Birch are also available online.
Hawk Ridge Art was recently featured on WDIO-TV sharing their Lakeside home gallery. This news segment is available on the website. Their home gallery can be viewed by appointment by calling Doug Cameron at 218.348.0097.
